Day #24: June 7 - They flew off the mountain in the AM, transited to Whitehorse later in the day (yes, some of them by hired limo) and are now having a late dinner and drinks. It's summer season up there now and it was hard to find a hotel.
Day #23: June 6 - Back at base camp.
Day # 22: June 5 - Dave called again. They made it easily to Camp 3. Everyone is well and they woke up to considerably milder temperatures this morning. The plan is to make for Base camp today. Weather permitting they will fly out tomorrow and be in Whitehorse sometime Sunday afternoon or evening. The 'Happy anniversary' to Gerry got quite a response. Dave says hi to Donna.
Day #21: June 4 - Just got a call from Dave: They're in the process of packing so they can move down to Camp 3. They are facing major weather and if I heard correctly it is currently -37C. Everyone is fine but focused on the move to Camp 3, which is pretty straight forward (they'll have a GPS track to follow if whited out). Indicated 1) I'm not missing anything and 2) they're try to call again tomorrow with a more detailed update.
Day #20: June 3 - They have returned to camp 4. The home crew is awaiting a phone call with an update soon.
Day #19: June 2 - Still at high camp & there is no news to report.
Day # 17: May 31 - Summit attempt abandoned after ~ 7.5 hrs of travel, stopping just short of the West Peak (called Philippe on the SPOT map). Too windy? Skied down to camp in just over 2 hrs and sent out an "OK" message so all is fine after a 10 hour day.
Day #16: May 30 - After a very hard day getting to camp 5 Saturday, the team rested today. The plan is to get up very early Monday morning and go for the summit. Tomorrows spot log ought to be interesting! Please don't forget to cast some positive vibes their way tomorrow.
Day #14: May 29 - On the plateau at ~5200m (high camp). Next scheduled satellite call tomorrow evening (assuming they are not summiting or something). The five day forecast is (fwiw) good. The team is strong, they're in position....................(additional comments by Bob in Whitehorse)
Day #13: May 28 - It's clear Bob's 'sick' (HAPE?) and exits with a group from a locally based mountaineering company, the other five, all quite strong, move to camp 4.
Day #12: May 27 - Climbed higher today, Gerry, Radmila, Dan reached camp 4, dug out tent platforms. etc., then returned to camp 3. Bob's slowing down, having trouble breathing and the rope team he's on had to cache their gear at 5165metres (135 vertical metres short of Camp 4).
Day #11: May 26 - Hauled a load of gear up further and then back down.
Day #10: May 25 - Still at camp 3, planning on moving on tomorrow.
Day #9: May 24 - No travel, presumably a rest day.
Day #8: May 23 - Bob's birthday at camp 3.
Day #7: May 22 - More travel upwards and excellent weather.
Day #6: May 21 - Second haul of gear and sleep at camp 2.
Day #5: May 20 - First haul of gear up to camp 2.
Day #4: May 19 - Stayed put, likely due to snowfall and to rest?
Day #3: May 18 - Second haul of gear and sleep at camp 1.
Day #2: May 17 - First haul of gear up to camp 1.
Day #1: May 16 - Flight to base camp.
